Position: Research Assistant (Law)

Location: New Delhi (on-site)

About Esya: Esya Centre's mission is to generate empirical research and inform thought leadership to catalyze new policy constructs for the future. It simultaneously aims to build institutional capacities to generate ideas that enjoin the triad of people, innovation, and value, consequently helping reimagine the public policy discourse in India.

Role

  1. The Esya Centre is inviting applications to join the Centre as a full-time Research Assistant.

  2. The Research Assistant will actively contribute to research projects, policy analysis, and public discourse at the intersection of technology, law, and public policy. They will work closely with other members of the Centre to develop evidence-based policy recommendations on the Centre's research themes, namely digital antitrust, AI and emerging tech, creative and green economies, and internet and data governance.

  3. Research: The candidate should be a capable researcher, should be able to adapt to different output formats (memos, issue briefs, whitepapers); and should demonstrate interest in technology markets and themes such as data protection, digital content regulation, IPR and competition law.

  4. Analytical Skills: Candidate must be able to deconstruct contemporary events through an analytical lens.

  5. Creative Thinking: Above all, the candidate should be able to demonstrate creative thinking skills.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor of Laws (minimum requirement, Master’s preferred)

  2. Some background in technology, digital markets, or related areas is preferred, and demonstrated ability to publish high-quality research is also a plus.
